TINCTURE BAR
Branding
The Challenge
To build an imaginary brand for an customer based business. A logo and submarkek must be established along with a paper system and other merchandise to be utilized for the brand. All of this information will then be compiled into a comprehensive, complete brand book.
Target Audience
The target audience for this project are millennials both male and female who all love the outdoors. They are interested in adventure and love a great crafted local cocktail. Most likely own many house plants and possibly forage for mushrooms in their local forest. These people are very environmentally conscious and prefer all natural healing remedies. They practice herbal medicine and prefer anything from nature as opposed to man made products.
Discovery & Exploration
I have worked in the serve industry for a long time and have developed a strong passion for the food and beverage industry. This compelled m,e to create a different kind of cocktail bar concept that could merge both alcohol with self care. The idea of apothecaries and old medicine inspired me and my goal was to create this “apothecary cocktail bar” where you can have both at the same time. Tincture is a place where you can get booth boozy and healthy all at once.

Round 1 Drafts
For my first round of drafts, I wasn’t too happy with any of the options I created. For option 1 the integration of the logo mark with the type wasn’t as fluid as I had hoped. As for option 2 I liked the mortar and pestle logo I created but I don’t feel that the typography matched the logo style in a cohesive way. For option 3 I think the logo and typeface worked together well but the dandelion illustration doesn’t come across as well.

Round 2 Drafts
For my second round of drafts, I was much happier with my solutions. For option 1 I think the typeface and logo integration was working much better but I wanted the line style of the logo to pair better with the main typeface I chose. I did a ton of type exploration during this round and I think the one I chose for option 2 was working very well. The pointed serifs and glyphs really embodied the style I was hoping to achieve. However, I wanted to somehow combine the logo mark into the typeface.

Final Design
Reflection
I decided to go with option 1 from my previous drafts but changed the layout to be more horizontal. In option 1 the main typeface for Trueno is exactly what I was looking for and I think it best exemplifies the brand. However, I don’t think the sans serif for the body copy pairs very well it. As for option 2, I explored using a black background for the label but I don’t think it aligns as well with my audience. The serif typeface for the body copy is working well and gives the design a more high-quality and refined look.
